✅ Reverse Engineering of Custom Flex Cable with USB Interface

In this project, I successfully reverse engineered a proprietary flex cable assembly that included a USB Type-A male connector on one end and a 10-pin connector on the other. The goal was to understand the internal signal routing and recreate the cable for compatibility, repair, or redesign purposes.

🔧 Key Tasks:

  • Physical teardown and inspection of the original flex cable
  • Pin tracing and mapping from the USB connector to the 10-pin interface
  • Signal identification (power, data lines, ground, and auxiliary connections)
  • Custom schematic recreation based on the original layout
  • Design of a replacement cable or adapter for integration in other systems

✅ Outcome:

This reverse engineering process allowed me to duplicate the flex cable’s functionality without access to the original design files. The resulting pinout and documentation can now be used for manufacturing custom cables, troubleshooting hardware, or integrating the connector into new embedded designs.
